Montana City Scapes…
Montana Cities have a storied history, dating back to the 19th. century. Being downtown in one of these small towns harkens back to a time past. Many parts of the country have lost their downtowns, leaving mom and pop behind. Left now with just the big box stores, and pictures of their once bustling downtowns. And, now with the Last Best Place being discovered. Is this the fate of the downtowns in the Big Sky in the 21st Century?
The camera is the only tool that stops time. I love to study and reflect on old time photos. Photos which have stopped time from many years past. I wonder and imagine what it was like to walk the city streets, to construct the buildings, and to live a life back then. Will future generations entertain the same thoughts?
Montana City Scapes is a project that has been photographed for many years across the Big Sky state. In hopes of stopping time, and of preserving the Montana downtown feel in the face of constant change. It is a project that has been documented on a 21 st. century camera and printed using a 19th. century Cyanotype process preserving the Montana City Scapes for future generations.
